Thor: Ragnarok – Shortest MCU Movie?

Thor: Ragnarok director reveals the movie's run time!

The first two Thor movies were shorter in length than the other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and it appears that Thor: Ragnarok will follow in their footsteps.

At 112 minutes each, Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World and Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk share the Number One spot on the list of MCU installments arranged from shortest to longest. Kenneth Branagh's Thor follows at 114 minutes. But director Taika Waititi suggested during a recent interview with Collider that the third Thor installment might just take over that first spot:

The cut right now, I reckon it's about 100 minutes. It's not gonna be a very, very long film. I think that stories are better when you leave them wanting more, and this film moves at a clip, it's got stuff happening all the time. I think people are still gonna feel exhausted by the end; they've been on this big journey and stuff, so I don't think we need the film to be three hours.

Of course, if a shorter run time does the job, there's no need to stretch it out. Interestingly, Waititi's lengthiest movie so far is Hunt for the Wilderpeople, which ran for 101 minutes. So, it’s possible that his November 3, 2017 release might actually turn out to be the longest movie of his career so far!

Thor: Ragnarok is likely to end up as the shortest MCU installment to date, but the director suggested that there will be plenty of deleted scenes for the fans to enjoy in the Blu-ray version:

There will be a lot of deleted scenes. Great scenes. Funny, funny moments that – you can't have it all. As I say, you gotta kill those puppies, so we had to take some of those things out. Those scenes will exist, so people will be able to see them.
