Over the last 24 years, Warner Bros. has released 35 animated television or direct-to-video movies based on DC Comics characters. Even so, the first, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, is still regarded as the best of the series. It was also the only DC animated movie to receive a theatrical release, until 2016's limited release of the underwhelming Batman: The Killing Joke.
So it was about time the studio did something! First released in 1993 and again as a DVD in 1999, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is set for release in a remastered 1080p Blu-ray version! The movie will also be available in both its original 16:9 aspect ratio and in a new 4:3 aspect ratio.

In addition, July’s Comic Con will see the release of another DC animated film, Batman and Harley Quinn (Batman: The Killing Joke debuted at Comic Con, too), which will be a new addition to the ever-expanding DCAU.
This latest offering will be screened for the first time on the 21st of July. The screening will be followed with a Q & A session featuring the filmmakers and cast members present at the event.
Unlike The Killing Joke, Batman and Harley Quinn isn't an overly serious film. As a matter of fact, it stands out as a rather humorous animated flick that resembles the buddy comedies of the "˜80s in tone and premise. We hope it scores better with the critics.
The Batman and Harley Quinn Blu-ray and DVD will be released on the 29th of August.
