The Black Panther release date is still about a year away, but it appears that journalists have already viewed some footage from the movie. Since filming will wrap any minute now, we can expect this footage to make its way online, along with pics and possibly an actual teaser. However, we can also expect that it might not be complete, particularly in regard to special effects.
According to reports, the sets are exquisite, which indicates that Marvel succeeded in bringing Wakanda to life using a mix of tribal and technological elements. The same reports say that the clips featured Forrest Whitaker's Zuri and Angela Basset's Ramonda.
More interestingly, it appears that Andy Serkis' Klaue will actually be a bigger antagonist than we previously believed, and that he will have his classic cybernetic arm with him (Ultron chopped off his actual arm in Age of Ultron). Ross (Martin Freeman) will assist T'Challa and the Dora Milaje in the fight against Klaue.
Ross: Well, you brought quite the entourage. Do you have a mixtape coming out?
Klaue: Oh yeah, I'll actually send you a link. (MCU Exchange)
We can expect more exchanges like this one throughout Black Panther.
The journalists also saw footage of T'Challa being crowned the King of Wakanda. Director Ryan Coogler said that Black Panther won't just be about the the superhero’s physical strength; it will also be about his intellect.
Action sequences showcased why the Dora Milaje – Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) and Okoye (Danai Gurira) – are such formidable warriors.
Interestingly, it was hinted that the movie will also feature some rhino-mechs, and that Nakia will be wearing cannon blasters on her hands.
The clips didn’t reveal anything about Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger or Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier.
We don't know about you, but we hope that this year's ComicCon will feature a Black Panther teaser trailer.
