It was January 2015 when Tyrese Gibson first expressed his desire to play John Stewart in Green Lantern Corps. The 2020 flick didn't have the "Corps" part in its title at that time - Warner Bros added it later. So we didn't know back then whether John Stewart would be introduced, or they would stick to Hal Jordan.
But the change in the movie's title obviously confirms the introduction of more than one Lantern. And more recently, Geoff Johns confirmed that the Green Lantern Corps would appear in Justice League Part One. As the movie is set to kick off filming next month, we might hear an announcement from Warner Bros soon about who will be donning the animated green suits.
Tyrese Gibson had already confirmed that he met with the studio last year. He recently told Larry King (via Comic Book) that he's still a contender for the John Stewart role in Justice League and Green Lantern Corps. Check out the following segment from their conversation:
Larry: So, have you heard from Zack Snyder?
Tyrese: No.
Larry: Maybe he’s watching.
Tyrese: I did meet with Warner Brothers, though.
Larry: And?
Tyrese: And…um…shoot me a prayer, Larry.
Larry: You got a shot?
Tyrese: I do.
Larry: I loved the Green Lantern when I was a kid. That was a great comic book.
Tyrese: I would love it. I’ve taken the oath. I would love to do it.
When Larry remarks that he would get the part, Tyrese claims that he's "got the muscles for it" and that he "can do 1,500 push-ups right now"! Is that enough?
Christina Wren ABSOLUTELY wants Carrie Ferris to be in Green Lantern Corps!
Christina Wren was introduced as U.S. Air Force officer Carrie Farris in Man of Steel and she reprises her role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Because of the name similarity between Carrie Farris and Carol Ferris, many fans assume that she will eventually turn out to be Star Sapphire in the DC Extended Universe.
While Wren doesn't know if her character is destined to turn out to a superhero and appear in Green Lantern Corps, she personally would love to see that happen! She tells Comic Book, “Yes! Yes! Like, absolutely! I mean, super-huge fan. Would die to be a superhero.”
The actress adds that she’s wanted to be a superhero since childhood, because there weren't many female superheroes in the limelight at that time. She claims that it would "really be a dream come true" for her. She concludes by saying that she's "waiting as much as anyone else".
