Batman v Superman must be one of the most controversial comic book movies of recent years, right up there with Fant4stic, because of the casting choices, the director, the tone of the movie, and pretty much everything else. But, despite all that, it’s also one of the most anticipated. So how will it perform at the box office?
Based on advance ticket sales, Batman v Superman will be a major hit, with sales far surpassing the ones of fellow superhero flicks Deadpool and The Avengers. But, if The Avengers attracted $207 million worth of fans, will this one score such a gargantuan weekend, as well?
To be noted, the advance ticket sales for Batman v Superman (which are now as high as $25 million) resemble those for The Dark Knight returns, which made about $161 million in the US in its first weekend. So"¦
Deadline, the website that provided our information, also reports that the movie has thus far attracted a predominantly male audience, aged 14 to 49 years. Which is just about the same as Jurassic World’s audience. However, considering that this age group is the one that spends the most on movies, things look much better for the superhero showdown - the male audience accounts for 82 percent of all those who booked advance tickets for Batman v Superman, as opposed to 64 percent for Jurassic World.
In case you didn't know, Jurassic World made $208 million in its first US weekend, and reached $1.67 billion worldwide by the end of its run.
So things are looking pretty good for Batman v Superman.
