According to Sony’s announced schedule, the Venom movie, which will star Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, will begin filming this September. While we know that Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) is set to direct, we still haven’t heard any casting news besides the main lead.

However, we may have come across some news about one character who will join Eddie Brock and Cletus Kasady/Carnage in the film. That Hashtag Show reports that Ann Weying, Eddie Brock's ex-wife in the comics, will appear in the Venom movie. Also in the comics, Weying became She-Venom after the Sin Eater shot her.

Of course, as we’ve seen with other big-screen characters, we can’t be 100 percent certain that Weying will become She-Venom in the movie, or that she had any prior relationship with Eddie Brock. That Hashtag Show also reported that the studio is searching for an actress between the ages of 25 and 32 to play Weying.

That Hashtag Show said that Sony isn’t planning to use the classic 616 Venom suit from the comics in the movie. Instead, they’ll base Eddie Brock/Venom on the Ultimate Spider-Man version of the character. This could result in the creation of a connection between Brock and Peter Parker, since Brock and Peter's fathers worked together on The Suit.

Additionally, Eddie and Peter became friends before their respective parents died.

Of course, all of this happened in the comics. And, since we don't know how Venom might be set in the same reality as the MCU without establishing connections, it’s possible that Sony could just touch on the fact that Brock's father created the suit.

Venom will be released on October 5, 2018.
