Despite the news that it’s one of the shortest Marvel Cinematic Universe movies to date, Thor: Ragnarok was and still is one of 2017’s most anticipated comic book adaptations. Taika Waititi accomplished that by changing the tone and adding more humor.

And he managed to do that even as he adapted at least two separate comic book storylines and introduced numerous characters, any of whom might play a consistent role in subsequent movies. Valkyrie (Tess Thompson) is one such character.

The actress told Comic Book that her Valkyrie’s relationship with Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) was advantageous at first. Although she didn't indicate how it’s advantageous for Valkyrie, she said that she brings the Grandmaster the things he desires the most:

I bring the Grandmaster things that may be of interest to him, and one of those happens to be Thor. [The Grandmaster is] always grouping people together in fights, and I brought the Hulk to him, and so I bring Thor as a would-be contender, and hilarity ensues.

So Valkyrie has plans of her own, and Thor's arrival might them bring to fruition. Otherwise, we couldn't explain why she sides with the God of Thunder and disrupts her advantageous relationship with the Grandmaster.

However, this betrayal will put her on a collision course with Topaz (Rachel House). House, who frequently works with Waititi, told Comic Book that anyone who steps on the Grandmaster's toes should expect repercussions:

I'm very protective of the Grandmaster. And if anyone messes with his affections, then I'm gonna get a bit, you know, grumpy.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on the 3^rd of November.
