Matthew Vaughn Teases Kingsman Shared Universe

Although Kingsman: The Golden Circle is still a couple of days away from its release, it’s not too early to talk about a trilogy and – why not? – numerous additional spin-offs. According to director Matthew Vaughn, there’s plenty of space to move around and explore besides the adventures of Eggsy.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle may not be as loved as The Secret Service, but there’s still quite a bit of hype around it. While it’s been said that the sequel loses itself in meaningless subplots, it appears that Matthew Vaughn has already thought about continuing the story. During an interview with Cinema Blend, the director commented that the story that began with The Golden Circle will end with the third installment in the series:

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (20th Century Fox)

I think there's a story in my head which will be finished by the end of the next one.

Of course, a trilogy doesn't make a shared universe. Vaughn addressed this by saying that there are many possibilities for expanding the Kingsman story. Whether it’s a Statesmen movie, a story focused on Colin Firth's character as the new Arthur, or a film about kids in training to become Kingsmen, there are plenty of opportunities.

However, the director said that those in charge should avoid being greedy. We all saw what happened in 2017 with The Mummy:

And then after that, of course, there could be Statesman movies, there could be spin-off character films. The universe could continue with new agents. Or, you know, Colin (Firth) could become Arthur, or new characters could come in. Or new kids get trained. There are so many options, but I also think it's better not to be too greedy.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle’s Taron Egerton and Colin Firth (We Got This Covered)

Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be released on September 22, 2017.
