Among the many Disney-related announcements made at this year’s D23 Expo, a few may have fallen by the wayside in the wake of the release of the first footage from Avengers: Infinity War! A culmination of the three Marvel Cinematic Universe phases, Infinity War will finally demonstrate why everyone fears Thanos. It will also bring together all of the MCU superheroes who have appeared throughout the MCU.
And additional characters are set to debut on the big screen. We'd be more than happy to see Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, but we'll have to settle for the next best thing: the sinister Black Order!
We’ve been hearing rumors that Thanos' generals will appear in Avengers: Infinity War, and we’ve even seen on-set pics of at least two members of the Black Order, namely Corvus Glaive and Ebony Maw. Their appearance in the movie was officially confirmed at the Expo!
In the MCU, the Black Order is missing one team member from the comics (Supergiant). And in this continuity, they’re the Mad Titan’s children, along with Nebula and Gamora. Furthermore, Black Dwarf has been renamed Cull Obsidian, which is actually another name for the team as a whole in the comics.
We got a first look at the pics yesterday, but from afar. Today has brought us a much closer look, and the villains look extremely imposing, especially Proxima Midnight (how we'd like to see her facing Gamora and Nebula!)
Check them out below, via Comic Book Resources!
And a trailer is coming soon! Maybe San Diego Comic Con soon?
We tried @Marvel fans, but all Joe Russo said about when the @Avengers #InfinityWar trailer will be released is “soon.” #D23expo pic.twitter.com/CAynHYoXWF
