Green Lantern Reboot Will Focus On Several Green Lanterns

Green Lantern Corps

The Green Lantern reboot scheduled for 2020 is supposed to wash away the box-office disgrace of the 2011 movie starring Ryan Reynolds. The reboot is obviously in incipient stage now, but rumors already started to emerge.

Green Lantern is the last movie on DC's slate until 2020, and it's likely we'll get to see the cofounder of the Justice League either in Justice League Part One (2017) or in Justice League Part Two (2019).

The question now is: which one of the Green Lanterns will DC choose to develop? Will they stick to Hal Jordan, or choose a different identity for the ring bearer?

In the light of the latest theories - or news, take it as you will - it seems we won't be able to get a straight answer to this question simply because the question is fallacious.

According to Collider, "the new Green Lantern movie will focus on more than one human Green Lantern".

The plan is to practically reinvent the franchise and turn the solo movie into a Green Lantern Corp movie. This is why DC reportedly needs to introduce more than just one ring bearer in either of the Justice League movies or in the 2020's reboot.

Collider shortlists Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner and John Stewart for the 2020 movie. But how will DC connect the Green Lanterns to the rest of the cinematic universe? Collider provides the answer:

"["¦] the way Justice League will go down is that Part One will feature our heroes dealing with an Earth-based threat, and then at the end, Green Lantern will fly in and alert them to an intergalactic menace (most likely Darkseid) for Part Two".

And as if to confirm the reboot will be a movie about the corps, another source claims an actor is already locked in for Hal Jordan and one for John Stewart!

Latino Review, however, maintains only two Green Lanterns will be explored: "One of them ["¦] is Hal Jordan. The other is ["¦] the black human Green Lantern John Stewart". Indeed, no word about Guy Gardner.

They also claim to know who will be playing Hall Jordan: "[…] the rumors of Pine circling Wonder Woman were actually Pine closing in on the role of Hal Jordan".

As to colleague John Stewart, well, it goes like this. Common did once voice his enthusiasm about playing John Stewart, but now that he's cast in Suicide Squad, it seems the only reported contender for the part is Tyrese Gibson.

What do you think, guys? Is DC right to focus on the Green Lantern Corps instead of a single ring bearer? Have your say below via comments! And don't forget: stay tuned, we'll bring you the hottest scoop on all things DC!
