Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin Announced as Cable

Fans have been wondering who would play Cable in the Deadpool sequel since the first movie came out. The studio has had its eye on a number of actors for the role, including Brad Pitt, who ultimately had to turn down the role due to a full schedule. Pierce Brosnan (a baseless rumor), Michael Shannon (according to most reports, the main contender for the role), and even David Harbour (Stranger Things) were said to be in consideration, as well.

In the end, none of these actors won the role (we haven’t even mentioned that many fans felt that Stephen Lang or Ron Perlman would be perfect). In an exclusive, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that 20th Century Fox has decided to cast none other than Josh Brolin as Deadpool 2's Cable. This a huge surprise!

Josh Brolin (Lionsgate)

It’s surprising because Josh Brolin already has a huge Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Thanos, the big baddie of the shared universe’s first three phases. With Infinity War closing in, he's going to have his hands full.

No one could have anticipated the studio’s move. Brolin confirmed it via his Instagram account, and took the opportunity to express his admiration for Ryan Reynolds.

So this was quite an eventful day. With Josh Brolin in the Cable role, we can assume that Deadpool 2 won't start shooting until the actor finishes his work on the Infinity War (to be released the 4th of May 2018).

Do you think Josh Brolin will be a valuable addition to Deadpool 2?
