X-Men: Apocalypse has launched strong in numerous international markets!

The U.S. audience might have to wait until next Friday to watch X-Men: Apocalypse, but the movie has already released on around 20,596 screens of 75 international markets. And it has performed exceptionally well in those territories, bagging no less than $103.3 million, reports Variety.

Currently, X-Men: Apocalypse is the NUMBER ONE movie in 71 markets, including the UK ($10.5 million), Mexico ($8.6 million), Brazil ($6.6 million), Russia ($6.5 million) and France ($5.9 million).

In six different territories – the Philippines ($4.9 million), India ($3.5 million), Indonesia ($3.1 million), Singapore ($3 million), Thailand ($2.7 million), and Colombia ($1.9 million) – the Bryan Singer flick has launched as the biggest 20th Century Fox opening weekend ever.

X-Men: Apocalypse screenings at 3D locations account for 41 percent of the gross. While RealD locations made $18. 4 million, 246 IMAX screens in 57 markets bagged $5 million.

Several factors make this little more than $100 million gross seem even more impressive. First of all, the critics have slammed X-Men: Apocalypse. Maybe they didn't hate it as much as they hated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but they didn't like it as much as they liked Captain America: Civil War. The movie has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 51 percent at this point.

Secondly, the movie faced more competition than Batman v Superman, and perhaps even Civil War. Its biggest rival at the moment is Sony's The Angry Birds Movie.

Thirdly, X-Men: Apocalypse is yet to be released in two of the biggest international markets, China and South Korea. The last mainstream X-Men movie, Days of Future Past, bagged above $50 million in these two countries combined in its opening weekend, and around $150 million in its full box office run.

So, up until now, the movie's performance deserves some appreciation. However, it has a long road ahead to beat any of 2016’s first three superhero movies.

Here are the two most recent TV spots for X-Men: Apocalypse! Only those who haven't seen the movie yet can expect a small amount of new footage in these commercials!
