Warner Bros. May Release Justice League Extended Cut

Warner Bros. has made a number of mistakes with their DC Extended Universe. Most recently, the studio decided that it didn’t want the first Justice League movie to exceed 120 minutes in length, and that may have been their biggest mistake yet. Leaving aside the other problems encountered during production, this decision could very well have been the proverbial final nail in the coffin.

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeZack Snyder's role in creating of the DCEU was greatly diminished, and it now appears that the studio is again ready to make drastic changes. For example, Jon Berg (who, along with Geoff Johns, was hired to point the DCEU in a new direction after Batman v Superman) is now out of the picture, although he’s been placed in charge of production for other Warner Bros. movies.

Justice League may not end up as a complete flop, but we’re certain that it won’t make the money everyone originally thought it would. Its disappointing opening weekend and negative word of mouth have demolished any chance the movie had of being a hit. During its first three weeks, it made just $573 million worldwide, which is a huge letdown for a movie with a budget of over $300 million.

Fans have already circulated and signed petitions for the studio to release a Zack Snyder Justice League cut. According to the latest reports, the studio heeded the requests, if only partially. We say partially because it appears that an Extended Cut of Joss Whedon's Justice League is set for release on Blu-ray:

This isn't what the fans requested, but it’s better than nothing. At least it’s an opportunity to demonstrate that Joss Whedon didn’t ruin Justice League.
