War Machine in Civil War – Intense and Pivotal Role!

Back in 2010, Don Cheadle joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as James Rhodes, aka War Machine, with Iron Man 2. The character was played by Terrence Howard in the first Iron Man movie. Till today, we have seen Cheadle three times as War Machine and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War will be his fourth.

But will we get to see a fifth appearance of the actor in the role in the MCU? Now, that’s a question whose answer is unknown. In the first Civil War trailer, we saw him severely injured with his chest arc reactor torn out. According to a recent rumor, the Russo Brothers have shot three death scenes for the upcoming May 6 release and one of those is that of War Machine.

Well, Super Hero Hype managed to catch up with Don Cheadle recently and ask him about the future of his character in the MCU. But the actor didn’t give away too much. He said:

I never know what it’s going to be and they keep their cards very close to their breast with Marvel. I never know where the character’s going to go, but he’s become more and more and in the next one, you’ll see that what happens to Rhodey is a little bit more intense and pivotal to what happens in the rest of the stories.

He actually heightened up the speculations further, didn’t he?

In the interview, the actor shared how it feels like to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cheadle stated that even though he eventually likes and enjoys working with other actors in the MCU movies, it can be ‘very tedious’. The actor explained:

A lot of time you’re looking at a green screen and a tennis ball on a C-stand, and it could’t be more antithetical to doing what Miles Ahead was, but you just give over to the elements and go, ‘Oh these are the toys and I’m playing with the biggest and best toys’ and we’re flying around and doing stuff that if I was ten years old, I would be having the greatest time in my life.

We hope that he keeps enjoying being a part of the MCU as we do want to see him as RHODEY many more times, don’t we?
