Trailer Released for The Witcher TV Series

There have been lots of teases since production began, but now we have our first taste of what the world of The Witcher will look like in Netflix’s upcoming tv series.

The trailer for the series was just released at San Diego Comic-Con.

The Witcher is an American-Polish fantasy drama that is based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. The series is expected to air in late 2019.

The series is based on the story of Geralt of Rivia (played by Henry Cavill), who is a monster hunter whose destiny is tied together with a powerful sorceress and a young princess. The three of them try to navigate the dangerous Continent, filled with beasts and threats.

Originally, The Witcher was going to be made into a film, but Netflix decided that there was far too much content in the 8 book series to fit everything into just one movie. Because of this, they decided to make it into a tv series.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich revealed in April that the first season of the show would be 8 episodes long.

Author Andrzej Sapkowski’s involvement in the project was not confirmed until May of 2018, when Schmidt Hissrich stated that Sapkowski is on the creative team for the show.

Fans of The Witcher include fans of the book series (released from 1994-2013) as well as fans of the video games released from 2007-2015. Both the games and the tv series are based on the novels, so fans of both can be thoroughly excited.

The trailer gives us a great look at Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt, which hints at a performance that is a bit better than fans had originally thought when this casting decision was made public.

We also see Yennefer, played by Anya Chalotra, and Ciri, played by Freya Allen, giving us a much more detailed look at how these characters will be portrayed in the series.

The trailer shows Geralt fighting off enemies with his sword, hints of Yennefer’s transformation, Ciri being lost in the woods, and being told that she needs to find Geralt.

These are all exciting previews, especially for fans of the video games, who can see plenty of similarities between the games and this series.

The trailer also shows the Nilfgaardian army coming over a hilltop, hinting at some epic battle scenes to take place in the show.

The trailer ends with Geralt coming face to face with a giant spider, With Geralt’s eyes going black.

Fans will have to wait to find out exactly when they will get to start watching the series, since the release date has not yet been made official.

Until then, we can make due with this trailer, replaying the games, and rereading the book series.
