Titans season 2 has just added some power from the oceans of Atlantis, as Aqualad is officially joining in on the action. According to a new report from TV Insider, Drew Van Acker of Pretty Little Liars fame has officially boarded the sophomore season of the live-action DC series as the Atlantean hero. It has previously been teased by Acker himself, via an Instagram post back in May, that he was involved with Titans. Here's the post in question.

It remains unclear just how significant of a role Aqualad will have in the upcoming run of episodes. The character is described as “a founding member of the Titans and Aquaman’s eager sidekick." That said, don't get your hopes up too high for a cameo from Arthur Curry himself. At the very least, don't expect him to be played by Jason Momoa, even if it does happen, as the DC Universe shows take place in a different universe to the current run of DC movies.

This particular version of the character is said to have been born in Atlantis and is a member of the royal court. He trained under Aquaman but eventually decided to venture out on his own to become a full-fledged hero, as opposed to a sidekick, alongside his fellow Titans. The official synopsis for the series reads as follows

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.”

The core cast for the series cast includes  Brenton Thwaites (Dick Grayson), Anna Diop (Starfire), Teagan Croft (Raven) and Ryan Potter (Beast Boy). Season 2 is bringing in Joshua Orpin (Superboy) and Esai Morales (Deathstroke). The big addition comes in the form of Iain Glen (Game of Thrones), who will take on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Titans season 2 does not yet have a premiere date set, but season 1 is available now for DC Universe subscribers.
