Thor: Ragnarok - Sam Neill Confirms Role

Even if Thor: Ragnarok won't be released until late 2017, there have already been quite a few casting announcements made. The biggest of them all seems to be the addition of Cate Blanchett as Hela, presumably just one of the antagonists of the movie. Jeff Goldblum was also announced as portraying the Grandmaster, the ruler of the planet where Hulk and Thor are going to clash in the arena.

Yesterday, another big announcement was made. Sam Neill has confirmed that he will appear in Thor: Ragnarok, joining his former Jurassic Park co-star Jeff Goldblum in the ever-expanding MCU:

Oddly enough, I'm not really allowed to say this, and I can't tell you what it is"¦I did a couple of days on Thor, just before I came over here. I had to sign all sorts of things that say if I say anything else, Marvel's Secret Agents, and they are lethal, will come and get me, and probably my children as well (via Screen Rant).

Sam Neill has previously worked with Taika Waititi in the director's critically acclaimed Hunt for the Wilderpeople. So it isn't such a big surprise to find out that the actor has found another role in one of Waititi's movies.

Reportedly, the actor has already shot his scenes for Thor: Ragnarok over the course of a couple of days. So we can expect him to make just a cameo appearance, pretty much like Glenn Close did in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

However, even if he has just a small role in Thor: Ragnarok, this doesn't mean at all that this will be his first and last appearance in the MCU. Who knows? Maybe his cameo is more in the vein of Samuel L. Jackson's in the first Iron Man flick"¦
