The Best Spider-Man, According to Tom Holland

The best Spider-Man

Who was the best Spider-Man? Was it Tobey Maguire in the Sam Raimi flicks? Or was it Andrew Garfield in the ill-received Amazing Spider-Man movies? The fans are divided as far as the answer to this question is concerned - for some, Tobey brought the perfect Peter Parker, while for some Andrew became the perfect Web Slinger once the mask was on.

And the new Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland subscribes to the latter opinion. Here's what Tom said during an interview with Digital Spy: "I haven’t [met him], but I’m a huge fan of Andrew and he’s said some lovely things about me in the press the other day. He did such a good job as Peter Parker and it’s really difficult not to copy him because what he did was so perfect and obviously there are going to be things that I might steal but I hope we get to meet and even work together in the future." (via Comic Book Movies)

But what is this? Is this just an exchange of pleasantries? Because it surely seems so to us - after all, Tom Holland does say that Andrew was the best Spider-Man after being pleased by the latter's statements: "Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor. And [he's] a dancer, so his body's the right [form]." (via Hollywood Life)

And does Tom Holland say that he will copy Andrew when portraying the new Web Slinger? Apparently so - though we are not convinced that Garfield's portrayal can be called top-notch. While we do agree that the actor did his best when the mask was on, we still feel like Tobey Maguire is the best Peter Parker.

What do you think? Is this a good news in any way? Or we shouldn't be bothered by this exchange? Tom Holland has certainly proved himself as a fine young actor and we do believe that he has a shot at being both the best Peter Parker and the best Spider-Man.

His first appearance in the MCU will be next year, in Captain America: Civil War, while his first solo flick will arrive in 2017, on the 28th of July.
