Swamp Thing adds yet another major cast while one of the executive producers offers some interesting new details on the DC Universe!

With still no news on who is going to be the leading man, DC Universe's Swamp Thing has added yet another major cast.

Last week, we came across the announcement that Teen Wolf and Gotham star Crystal Reed would be starring in Swamp Thing as the titular character's wife and partner Abby Arcane. Now, Deadline is reporting that Maria Sten, who won the Miss Denmark title in 2008 and currently stars in Syfy's Channel Zero, has also landed a series regular role.

According to the outlet, the Danish beauty queen will portray Abby's close childhood friend Liz Tremayne. Sten's version of the character is being described as someone who splits her time between reporting for the local paper and bartending at her aging father's roadhouse bar. Her no-nonsense attitude belies a deep compassion for her friends and family as she sets out in her uncompromising quest to expose the secrets that threaten her beloved hometown.

Meanwhile, Gary Dauberman, who is serving as an executive producer and has also co-written the pilot with Mark Verheiden, has offered some interesting new details on Swamp Things. In a new interview with SlashFilm, Dauberman says:

We always set out to make Swamp Thing as hard R as we could and go graphic with the violence, with the adult themes and make it as scary as possible. Because we're doing it through the DC streaming service, they really pushed us, although they didn't have to push hard, for us to go as extreme as we could.

The EP claims that the series is inspired by Alan Moore's work with the plant-loving superhero in the 1980s and it's that standard that they want to live up to. He adds:

Then of course it allows us, Swamp Thing himself looks incredible what Justin Raleigh and the guys over at Fractured are doing with the suit. So it's going to look amazing and less of the "man in suit" that you've seen in the movie and the other TV show"¦ [but] there is a physical costume, yes.

During the interview, Dauberman further confirms that the live-action DC Universe series will tell the origin story of Alec Holland. He says:

Yeah, it's the origin story of the Swamp Thing and it's Alec Holland wrestling with who he's become. A lot of it's told through the point of view of Abby Arcane.
