Suicide Squad SPOILERS – The Joker May Not Be The One Who Killed Robin!

Suicide Squad apparently reveals the identity of Robin's murderer in DCEU and it's not The Joker!

While Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice confirmed that Robin existed and is dead (at least for now) in the DC Extended Universe, Suicide Squad apparently reveals the identity of the one who killed him! And it isn't The Joker! Who is it then? Well, we will get into the details below, but first make sure you want to read on, because there are going to be what we call SPOILERS!

Even if you have already watched the David Ayer flick, there's a good chance you missed one of its most interesting Easter eggs! According to The Wrap, it's placed pretty early in the movie and stays for a brief while.

During Suicide Squad's opening, each Task Force X member gets their own introductory scene, which includes graphics listing his or her abilities and criminal records. And unlike the bios for other members, Harley Quinn's scene features a big surprise: the Easter egg we've been talking about.

The bio for Margot Robbie's character reveals that she claims responsibility for murdering the Boy Wonder!

Ever since we saw the Robin costume with "HAHAHA JOKE'S ON YOU BATMAN" spray-painted across its chest piece, we were assuming that The Joker had killed him.

Okay, not everyone was assuming that! Some believed that the exact opposite happened, and Robin took the mantle of the Clown Prince of Crime. But that theory has been debunked already.

That Easter egg in Suicide Squad is surely something that Warner Bros. intends to explore in future DCEU installments - possibly in the Batman standalone movie or a Harley Quinn spinoff.

We must not forget that Harley’s admission that she murdered Robin doesn't necessarily mean she actually did it or, at least, did it alone. She shares a "really unhealthy, dysfunctional" but "addictive" relationship with The Joker.

She could have helped Jared Leto's character in some way in killing Robin, or he could have made her do it, or even made her claim the responsibility for the murder. Anything like that may have happened, considering the fact that he’s The Joker and she’s Harley Quinn!

Harley didn't exist when The Joker killed Robin in the A Death in the Family story arc. She was created a few years later for Batman: The Animated Series. So, DCEU is definitely heading into a new direction with this particular plot.

So. Suicide Squad. According to the majority of the critics, this is a movie the general audiences should skip. Even those who have acknowledged the movie's positive aspects said that it cannot be considered more than a hot mess. And this is disappointing. Not from the perspective of a DC movies fan, but from the perspective of a comic book movie fan.

At this moment, the DCEU has almost nothing to offer. If Man of Steel is considered the highpoint of the shared universe, it doesn't really mean anything, considering how the following two movies performed. What will Warner Bros. do now? Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice addressed the main issues of Man of Steel. Suicide Squad underwent reshoots after Batman v Superman was clobbered by the critics.

Will Wonder Woman follow the same path? Will Warner Bros. intervene again and risk ruining another movie? More importantly, what chances does the DCEU have now to compete, from all points of view, with the MCU?

I know - one shouldn't compare the two universes. But why not? Let's check out some of the reviews the critics have made, addressing (at times) the other big shared comic book movie universe.

Be warned - there are some spoilers here!
