New The Suicide Squad Trailer Released

A brand new trailer for The Suicide Squad has arrived. Director James Gunn has revealed what is expected to be the final trailer for the upcoming DC Comics adaptation. And it packs a big punch. Have a look.

The trailer opens with a major reveal about Idris Elba’s Bloodsport. Apparently, he managed to hurt Superman pretty badly. We also get new looks at Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, King Shark and the monster-sized villain, Starro. Gunn, known best for his work on the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has pulled no punches

The Suicide Squad is set to be released later this summer. Like all of Warner Bros. films in 2021, it will release both in theaters and on HBO Max in the U.S. on the same day. What that means for its potential at the box office remains to be seen. But 2016’s Suicide Squad, despite being poorly reviewed, earning an impressive $746 million worldwide.

Here is the synopsis for The Suicide Squad.

“Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.

Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.”

The cast is led by Margot Robbie (Bombshell), Idris Elba (Avengers: Infinity War), John Cena (Bumblebee), Joel Kinnaman (Suicide Squad), Jai Courtney (Divergent), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who ), David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Daniela Melchior (Parque Mayer), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Alice Braga (Elysium), Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Island) and Joaquín Cosio (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). Juan Diego Botto (The Europeans), Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), Nathan Fillion (The Rookie), Steve Agee (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Mayling Ng (Wonder Woman), Flula Borg (Ralph Breaks the Internet), Jennifer Holland (Brightburn) and Tinashe Kajese (The Inspectors) round out the ensemble. Additionally, Sylvester Stallone provides the voice of King Shark. Viola Davis is also reprising her role as Amanda Waller.

The Suicide Squad arrives on August 6.
