Spider-Man: Homecoming is expected to kick off filming this month with a well-formed cast roster that was molded mostly in the last couple of months or so. Apart from Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Marisa Tomei's Aunt May - who were introduced in Captain America: Civil War - the Jon Watts flick has also been confirmed to feature Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Michael Barbieri, and Kenneth Choi are also on board.
More recently, Spider-Man: Homecoming added one more name to its cast roster. According to Variety, Community and The Martian star Donald Glover has sealed a deal with Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures to appear in the July 7, 2017 release.
What character would Donald portray in Spider-Man: Homecoming? Well, that's a question to which we don't have an answer at this point. The outlet suggests that the name and description of the character are "still being heavily guarded", as are the movie's plot details.

Back in 2010, when Sony was searching for the new Peter Parker for The Amazing Spider-Man, Donald Glover campaigned for it. The hashtag "donald4spiderman" went viral at that time. Even Stan Lee supported the call for letting the actor audition for the role. However, he never had the opportunity to audition, and the role went to Andrew Garfield.
Later, after Sony and Marvel announced that they were working together on Spider-Man's latest big screen reboot, there were rumors suggesting that they would use Miles Morales rather than Peter Parker. Donald Glover expressed his desire to portray the webslinger again at that time, but made it clear that he wouldn't campaign for it.
Last year, Donald voiced Miles Morales in two episodes of the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series' third season.
