Ever since last summer, we've been hearing rumors on Warner Bros planning for a Batman solo movie. It was assumed that Ben Affleck won't just star in the movie as the Caped Crusader, but also he would pen the script and sit on the director's chair as well.
The actor recently admitted that he's working on something along with Geoff Johns and we assumed it's the script of the untitled Batman solo movie. More recently, William Morris Endeavor's co-CEO Patrick Whitesell revealed (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Affleck has already written the script and it's a "really cool" one.
But from what Zack Snyder reveals while speaking to Joe.ie (via Comic Book Movie), it seems there hasn't been that much progress yet. However, there's a good extent of truth in all that we've heard about the project. When asked if he's convinced the actor to do the Batman solo movie, here's how the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director responded:
I keep working on him, he’s always said he’s a one movie at a time guy. He’s finishing editing his film, Live By Night and then he comes to Justice League and then after that, I think he’s going to try and develop the story. Then we’ll see if he likes it.
When the interviewer hoped that Affleck would also direct the movie, Snyder stated:
Oh yeah, for sure. I think he would. I think that’s kind of the prerequisite, hopefully, for him doing [the film].
Kevin Smith lately claimed (via Detroit Free Press) that his old pal Ben Affleck is well aware of Batman v Superman reactions and that his script won't fall into the pitfalls of the Zack Snyder flick. He thinks that his buddy might bag an Oscar nomination or even win for that script!

During the latest episode of Heroic Insider, host Umberto Gonzalez dropped the rumor that Warner Bros considers the Batman solo movie as a "top priority" at the moment. The studio aims at releasing the movie sometime between The Flash and Aquaman solo movies. Phil Lord and Chris Miller's The Flash is scheduled for March 16, 2018 release while James Wan's Aquaman would hit the theaters on July 27, 2018.
