It has been more than a couple of months since we first heard that Doctor Strange is set to cast The Notebook star Rachel McAdams in the female lead role. Later, Rachel, too, confirmed that she had talks over the role but claimed that it was "˜super-early' to speak about. But it's no longer that early! The Canadian actress has confirmed that she is indeed a part of the Scott Derrickson flick!

While speaking to The Wrap at the Toronto International Film Festival, Rachel didn't hesitate to confirm that she is "˜gonna go do Doctor Strange (for) Marvel'. The 36-year-old actress termed the Benedict Cumberbatch starrer venture as "˜kind of a psychedelic Marvel comic'. That's an interesting phrase, isn't it? She is looking forward to the November 4, 2016 release which kicks off its filming this November.

However, an official confirmation from Marvel Studios is still pending. And, the actress failed to disclose what role she will play in Doctor Strange. Check out the interview clip below before we discuss what her role in the movie could be.

What Doctor Strange Role Will Rachel McAdams Play?

Till now, Doctor Strange seems to be a real strange Marvel Cinematic Universe project! They have added veteran English actress Tilda Swinton for the role of the Ancient One, which is an Asian male character in the comics. So, it is hard to assume what would exactly be Rachel McAdams' role in the movie. However, here we've tried to explore the possible characters that she might end up playing. So, let's get started below!

Will Rachel Play Clea?

Clea, the neice of the strongest nemesis of Doctor Strange - Dormammu - is also his greatest love in the comic books. While the Sorcerer Supreme was going across the Dark Dimension, it was this female character that betrayed her uncle to end up as his closest ally and then life partner. Clea is the character Rachel McAdams is most likely to play in the movie - at least that's what most of the fan speculations on web suggest.

If that is held true, we won't just get to see Rachel playing a superhero love interest, but she would watch her bust out a bunch of magical moves. In the comics, Clea is adept in the mystical arts that are very similar to that of Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. But if Rachel McAdams isn't cast as Clea, what else could be her role?

Will She Play His Mother?

That's obviously a weird assumption - no doubt about that! But since there aren't a whole lot of female characters in the story arc of Doctor Strange, we cannot totally snub this one. Rachel McAdams might end up playing the role of Beverly Strange - the mother of Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange!

In the comics, the death of Stephen's mother is what weighed on him morally enough to turn him into a ruthless person. Rachel might play the role of Beverly in flash-back sequences reminding him of his human side, sense of responsibility or something like that. Her role might be somewhat like the role of Uncle Ben in Spider-Man films, as per the speculation by Inquisitr!

But we definitely hope that Marvel doesn't get that strange with Doctor Strange! We don't want to see Rachel McAdams as Benedict Cumberbatch's on-screen mother, do we?

Rachel McAdams As Victoria Bentley?

The possibility of introducing Victoria Bentley in the movie is triggered by the rumors that suggest Chiwetel Ejiofor's role in the movie is Baron Karl Mordo. In the comics, this supervillain kills Victoria's father Sir Clive Bentley - who's an affluent professor and a sorcerer secretly. Strange eventually managed to prevent Mordo from killing her too because the supervillain thought of her potential abilities as too dangerous.

The female character did have feelings for the Sorcerer Supreme but they never explored a romantic relationship really due to the fact that Clea was Stephen's true love. It will be interesting to see Rachel McAdams portraying Victoria Bentley as the character once joined the evil sorcerers - the Circle Sinister. Of course, at that moment her will was bended by the situations and her memory got blurry.

However, she did get her mind cleared eventually. We won't mind watching Rachel play the role in Doctor Strange, will we?

What About Morgana Blessing Role?

Morgana Blessing is a potential love-interest of Stephen in Doctor Strange comics. Unlike Clea and Victoria Bentley, she isn't any kind of a sorcerer or magician. But she did use to study the occult for years and was a renowned author. In the comics, she wrote and published a biographical book on Doctor Strange when he was assumed dead.

Morgana first met Stephen following a bank robbery incident, after which, they came close and she fell in love with him. However, things didn't work out eventually and later she became lovers with Victor Strange (Baron Blood) - the brother of Stephen - who had become a vampire. Morgana ensured regular supply of blood for Victor so that he could quench his thirst.

Morgana Blessing isn't a strong character to be honest -so we would not wish the role for Rachel McAdams. Do you disagree?

Would She Play One Of The Vishanti?

Agamotto the All-Seeing, Omnipotent Osthur and Hoggoth the Hoary make up the Vishanti in Doctor Strange comics. They are the extra-dimensional entities with immense magical powers and they have aided Stephen and other good sorcerers. While Agamotto and Hoggoth are depicted as male characters, Osthur is a female in the comics. So, we might see Rachel playing Osthur in the 2016 flick.

However, Agamotto is the most treasured tool among the Vishanti for the Sorcerer Supreme. While talking about picking Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Marvel President Kevin Feige described the character as more of "˜a mantle' rather than "˜a specific person'. So, you never know if they believe the same for Agamotto too! They might just cast Rachel McAdams as Agamotto and offer the same explanation! Doctor Strange seems already strange enough and there’s no guarantee that the project won’t get stranger!

A Totally Original Character For Rachel?

We've been speculating on what role would Rachel McAdams play in Doctor Strange but what if Marvel goes for an original character for the Canadian actress? The Marvel Cinematic Universe has indeed introduced original characters before! Stellan Skarsgard's Eric Selvig and Kat Dennings' Darcy Lewis from the Thor films are prominent examples of MCU characters that didn’t exist in the comics. They might be coming up with a similar original character for Rachel.

Plus, they might also go for amalgamation! That, too, isn’t anything new in the MCU! For example, Claire Temple is the ex-wife of Dr. Bill Foster and a love-interest of Luke Cage. But in Marvel's Daredevil – which is also a part of the same universe – the character of the same name portrayed by Rosario Dawson has been amalgamated with Night Nurse. What if the studio has got some similar plan for Rachel McAdams in Doctor Strange? That shouldn’t be very surprising!
