Avengers Age of Ultron – Quicksilver, dead or alive?

The Blu-ray and DVD for Avengers Age of Ultron will be released October 3, 2015 (in the following days). Even before hitting theatres, it was mentioned that the Blu-ray/DVD will have special features, including a different ending.

You didn't see this coming.

You didn’t see this coming.

From the beginning, the fate of Quicksilver was not set in stone, as the director reported to Empire Podcast:

"We did actually shoot him in the last scene, in an outfit, with his sister. We also shot him, waking up, saying, ‘Ah, I didn't really die from these 47 bullet wounds!’ Actually, we shot something else with that, but… maybe I'll let you know about that later. But the intent was to earn this, and then you have to stand by it."

So, they shot some scenes with different scenarios, the ending from the DVD/Blu-ray is alternate and in one of the scenes Quicksilver is alive after 47 bullet wounds. Originally, this Marvel superhero didn’t die, not from the many bullets, at least.

The character first appeared in the comic book X-Men #4 (March 1964).

Hard to believe, but after surviving Ultron's rain of bullets, Quicksilver gets shot when Hawkeye is trying to save a young boy. Quicksilver sacrifices himself taking the bullets that were aimed at Hawkeye. His final words were: "You didn't see that coming," and we kind of didn't.

Next: Check Out if Marvel prepared a script in which QuickSilver did not die!

In an interview for Cinemablend, Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver) was asked if there was any version of the script where the superhero he plays will survive and here's his response:

"It's [the] Marvel universe. It was very much our intention to kind of go the way we did. There was a costume designed for whether"¦ if I didn't [die]. Which was fucking really cool. I was like, "˜Oh my God.'

Is Quicksilver done?

But MCU characters never really die.

I'm not sure if I really can really go down that realm, but you know, yeah, it was definitely an alternative, that I think they had to play with. But, it was very much set from the very beginning, and Joss had in mind to tell the story that he told"¦ and I was very game for that, as well, because I think it really gives [the movie] sort of an emotional twist to it. A surprise.”

Cinemablend also reports that there was chatter about someone in Avengers Age of Ultron destined to die, and furthermore they have analyzed the contracts of actors like Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth. Aaron Taylor-Johnson seemed to have only one contract. Does this mean that Quicksilver is gone for good?
