CW's Arrow has seen Oliver Queen presumed dead and then returning from the very beginning of the show. Is his return in season four different from his previous comeback? Last week's episode, titled Uprising, has depicted Oliver Queen's revival as a dramatic return from the dead.
His comeback was also a moral reinstatement. Oliver Queen's memorable words "You did not fail this city, and I promise I will not fail you" are an epic promise. These are words spoken by a somehow changed man, a much more introspective character who learns a lot about himself while also learning about his entourage and enemies.
Oliver Queen is a humbled man
According to Stephen Amell as quoted by Hollywood Reporter, Oliver Queen "["¦] comes back having been humbled, which is an important lesson for anybody". Defeated in the dramatic duel with Ra’s Al Ghul (Matt Nable), Oliver Queen is saved only by grace of Maseo (Karl Yune) and Tatsu (Rila Fukushima).
Apparently, Stephen Amell does not see Oliver Queen as a ripen hero. As a mature savior who ponders on all consequences of his deeds. In fact, his series of disappearances, challenges, fights and comebacks are formative experiences on the road to becoming a complete hero.
"This will make perfect sense when you see season four, but the Arrow persona, the vigilante, the hood "” that’s a flawed persona", says Stephen Amell. And he continues "We saw it be flawed. We saw him lose. There has to be something more. We’ll see that eventually."

Until we get to see that, episode four of Arrow, titled Canaries, to be aired February, 11th, will develop as follows:
"Vertigo returns and pits Canary against Black Canary - Oliver (Stephen Amell) is thrown by the changes within Team Arrow. He's used to calling the shots but sees that the team has evolved in his absence and tensions quickly escalate in the lair. Oliver is furious that Laurel (Katie Cassidy) has been going out as the Black Canary and tells her to stop risking her life, but when Vertigo (Peter Stormare) hits the streets again, Laurel goes against Oliver's wishes and tracks down Vertigo who hits her with a full dose of the drug. Laurel's biggest fears revolve around her sister Sara (Caity Lotz) so the Vertigo causes her to hallucinate an epic fight between Canary and Black Canary. Meanwhile, Chase (Austin Butler) surprises Thea (Willa Holland), and Roy (Colton Haynes) warns Thea to stay away from Malcolm (John Barrowman)."
