New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series Reportedly In The Works

It sounds like fans of the Ninja Turtles have a lot to look forward to in the future. Not only are we getting a new movie in theaters this summer in the form of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, but it looks like a new show is coming our way as well. What’s more, the show will be directly connected to the upcoming movie, with Seth Rogen returning to produce the series. The news was first reported by the folks at Cinelinx, who report that the show is currently in the works for the Paramount+ streaming service.

Few details are currently available. It’s not known if the same voice actors will return for the show, or what it will be titled. It’s also stated that the series could arrive sometime in 2024, though the report seems speculative on that detail. Regardless, it would make sense for Paramount to capitalize on this new version of the franchise if they have a lot of faith in it. If the trailers are any indication, they have every reason to be optimistic.

Here is the synopsis for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

“In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”

Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs The Machines) directed Mutant Mayhem, which was produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. The massive ensemble includes Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr, Hannibal Buress, Rose Byrne, Nicolas Cantu, John Cena, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Natasia Demetriou, Ayo Edebiri, Giancarlo Esposito, Post Malone, Brady Noon, Rogen, Paul Rudd and Maya Rudolph

This new show would be just one of several TMNT projects that fans have to look forward to in the coming years. For one, Paramount+ is also working on some streaming movies that will focus on famous villains from the franchise. Additionally, we learned recently that a video game based on the fan-favorite The Last Ronin storyline is on the way. The heroes in a half-shell seem to be having a moment.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is set to hit theaters on August 2.
