Michael Peña on Ant-Man and the Wasp and a Possible Third Movie!

Michael Peña hints at Marvel already considering a third Ant-Man movie!

It’s possible that Ant-Man is going to have a trilogy, as several of his Marvel Cinematic colleagues have.

On January 19, Michael Peña (Luis in the Ant-Man movies) will share the screen with his fellow MCU actor Chris Hemsworth (Thor) in the war drama 12 Strong. The two may belong to the same shared universe, but Peña recently told IGN that he’d never met Hemsworth prior to the Nicolai Fuglsig venture.

In response to a question from the interviewer, the 41-year-old actor said that he and Hemsworth had discussed the MCU a bit.

We talked about it on the first day. It’s a whole different kind of club to be in, the Marvel Universe. I don't know if they’ll use me for the third movie; I still really don’t know. It’s cool to make a little bit of a mark on that Marvel Universe, and it’s kind of a cool club, They run a really cool studio.

Peña then dropped a hint about a possible third Ant-Man installment. It seems to be par for the course for Marvel to develop a concept for a third installment before the second is even in theaters. With the exception of the Hulk, every superhero who appeared in a solo movie in the MCU’s Phase One has been featured in a trilogy. It appears that Marvel likes the foreseeable future to be clearly mapped out.

Peña shared that he hadn't asked Hemsworth whether Luis might pop up in a Thor movie. He made it clear that he had no expectations that he’d appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which will be a round-up all of the shared universe’s major characters. Rather, he appears to be content to work with a group that includes Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas.

As you might expect, the prospect of being targeted by a Marvel sniper kept Michael Peña from giving away major details about Ant-Man and the Wasp. He did mention that the Peyton Reed sequel wouldn't start a Civil War between Luis and Scott Lang, who are pals:

I can’t really say, because I guess they’re good buddies. They’ve always been good buddies, and I think they’re remaining good buddies. I’ve got to be very vague, very general, but I guess he’s following more of the American dream and trying to better himself. He loves that universe and everybody knows Tony Stark and those guys. I guess he’s just trying to make his life better. I think that’s the best way to say it.
