Marvel introduced Luke Cage in Jessica Jones and everyone loved it. We loved Jessica Jones the series and Luke Cage the character, as well. So, the upcoming Netflix series centered on the superhero with impenetrable skin is probably already set for success.
Marvel is using the same recipe they used in Jessica Jones and Daredevil. A dark story unfolding in a mysterious background, and that is New York. Now, what would go with this scenery better than hip-hop music? That is why every episode is named after a song by hip-hop duo Gang Starr. Showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker revealed the names of the first three episodes on Twitter.
The first episode will be titled Moment of Truth after a 1998 Gang Starr track. The second episode is named after a track from 1994’s Hard to Earn album: Code of the Streets. And the last title revealed is Who’s Gonna Take the Weight? from 1991’s Step In the Arena album.

The showrunner did not choose to give song names to the episodes just to make things easier. He actually talked about the way he’s influenced by the music we hear today on TV series and movies:
I'm calling episodes songs. They are all musical. Each episode is named after a Gang Starr song. For me, the reason for that was because I like binge-watching to what used to happen back in the day when a record would come out, and if Prince released Lovesexy or Sign o' the Times, I would shut everything down and listen to the entire record, and the only time that we do that nowadays is with these shows. So the music kind of gives this undercurrent rhythm and it gives us a pulse for every single episode. We have hip-hop. At the same time, we also have needle drops from Mahalia Jackson and Nina Simone and John Lee Hooker, particularly in a very pivotal scene. (Slashfilm)
