Not only has the big screen portion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe expanded, but its small screen portion has been also been experiencing significant growth. Back in 2013, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived as their first television series, and since then they’ve aired four other shows, with the ABC series still running. And they’re currently working on bringing us at least a half-dozen more shows.
Marvel's Cloak and Dagger is one of the upcoming MCU TV shows that received a straight-to-series order from Freeform last April. While we were expecting the series to arrive next year, it now looks like we will have to wait a bit longer.
The Hollywood Reporter recently published a report on the struggle Freeform has had this year. The report claimed that the ABC-owned network is looking to launch Cloak and Dagger in winter 2018.
According to the report, Joe Pokaski, who is best known for his work on the NBC series Heroes and as the writer of multiple Marvel Comics issues (including the Secret Invasion: Inhumans miniseries and the final three issues of Ultimate Fantastic Four), is serving as Cloak and Dagger’s showrunner. But at the moment, he is rewriting his initial script for the series.

Of course, neither Marvel nor ABC would want to rush into any new project after the high-profile failure of the Mockingbird-led Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off, Marvel's Most Wanted. And everything is looking good for Marvel Television at the moment; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been reinvigorated, thanks to the addition of Ghost Rider, and the Netflix shows are doing great. So there's actually no need for any hurry.
Along with the upcoming Runaways series and Squirrel Girl/New Warriors series, Cloak and Dagger will specifically target young viewers.
