Infinity War: Loki to Switch Sides Again

Fan consider him to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best villain, but Loki seems to follow the same path every time he appears on the big screen. However, he didn't trick his brother and even helped defeat Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. But Taika Waititi's movie did let slip a small hint about his plans.

As he’s about to wake Surtur and destroy Asgard, Loki glances at the Tesseract, which contains the Space Stone. As Kevin Feige revealed at Brazil's Comic Con Experience, this small hint will pay off.

Thor and Loki (Marvel)

Avengers: Infinity War revealed that Loki grabbed the Tesseract right before Asgard was destroyed. At that point, we saw the God of Mischief with the Space Stone in hand, kneeling before an unknown character. We assumed that the unknown character was Thanos, and now that assumption has been confirmed.

But was this the plan (as convoluted as it is) all along, or was Loki simply forced to join the Mad Titan? No matter what the reason may be, Feige confirmed that the Trickster will switch sides. Again.

While not a complete surprise after seeing the Infinity War trailer, and knowing what we know about Loki, this is certainly a disappointment to some fans. Not only is this yet another betrayal on Loki’s part, it also follows the events that took place in Ragnarok, which led us to believe that the character would stand at his brother's side when needed.

What will happen next? Will Loki redeem himself again?

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4, 2018.
