Keanu Reeves Would Love To Play Constantine Again!

Keanu Reeves would love to return as John Constantine on big-screen!

It may have been almost a decade and a half since the release of Constantine, but Keanu Reeves' desire to return as the character hasn't faded away.

Reeves didn’t get a chance of playing Wolverine or Batman, but he did get to play the comic book character of John Constantine. He played it in the character's standalone movie, which arrived in theaters way back in 2005. But after the movie failed to impress the critics and managed to gross only $230.9 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of $100 million, Warner Bros. didn't bother moving forward with a sequel.

Fourteen years have gone by, but Reeves can still see himself playing the demon hunter again on big screen. That's what he has revealed in a new interview with Variety's The Big Ticket podcast to promote John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. When asked which would be the project from his filmography that he would be interested in returning to, here's how the 54-year-old Canadian actor responded:

I’ve always wanted to play John Constantine again. I just love that world, too, and I love that character. I just had a blast playing that character and in that world.

Not too long ago, Warner Bros. was actively developing a Justice League Dark adaptation which would have introduced a newer incarnation of the occult hero. But after that project saw its director Doug Liman walk away, it began to falter. It may very well have been already scrapped.

The studio is no longer focusing on continuity among its DC Comics projects. So, it can perhaps now consider giving Reeves' Constantine another chance. But maybe, that's just wishful thinking.
