Joss Whedon Wants To Play With BATMAN!

UPDATE: In a more recent interview with IGN, Joss Whedon has re-uttered his interest to direct a DC superhero movie, to be specific, a Batman movie. Here’s what the director says:

"Sure. I'd be like "˜I have all these joke ideas.' And they'd be like "˜No, we don't do that here.' I desperately wanted to do a Batman film - who doesn't? And I wanted to do Wonder Woman. I was a Marvel kid growing up, but I was always DC-curious. And I see myself on the spectrum in between."

Joss Whedon has been involved with Marvel Studio since the year 2010, and by this time he's directed two movies for them – The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, developed the Marvel Television venture Agents of SHIELD and participated in the creative process of some other Marvel movies.

We already know that Whedon's Marvel Cinematic Universe run ends with The Avengers sequel and he will no longer direct their movies. In spite of being involved with MCU for so long, the writer-director isn't just a Marvel man. In a recent interview with MTV, Joss Whedon reveals his fondness for DC Comics.

When asked what DC Comics superhero he would want to direct, he hasn't hesitated to utter BATMAN! Whedon states, "Everyone wants to play with Batman. Come on, that's just a given.

No Marvel Vs DC Competition!

In the interview, Joss Whedon also claims that he doesn't see any kind of a competition between Marvel and DC. He says:

"Competition for what? Their movies are so different. The way they approach them "” the Marvel aesthetic and the DC aesthetic "” couldn't be more opposite. I love that. I love going to their movies. I want to see how they build their team. I want to see Affleck play Batman. Now I just get to sit back and be a fan of both.

Wants To Direct Star Wars, But!

In another interview with IGN, Joss Whedon admits that he would love to direct a Star Wars flick. However, he isn't interested in seeing the franchise merge with MCU. The writer-director explains:

"You have two enormously strong, very textured universes. To say we have just the one would be to in some way dilute them. I think it makes sense to keep them in their own time, which I believe was long ago and not so close by.
