Jeremy Renner in Talks to Join Spawn

Jeremy Renner’s first MCU role was a cameo as Hawkeye in the first Thor movie. Joss Whedon then decided that he needed more screen time and expanded that role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Hawkeye was nowhere to be seen in Infinity War, but he’ll be back in Avengers 4, reportedly using the name Ronin.

According to That Hashtag Show, Renner may finally be in line for a major comic book movie role! THS recently reported that he’s been in talks with director Todd McFarlane to take on the role of Twitch in the Spawn reboot. McFarlane has repeatedly said that rather than making Spawn the focal point of the movie, his plan is to focus on Twitch. Basically, it will be Spawn’s story, but told from the Twitch’s point of view.

THS had no further news on whether a deal is forthcoming, but if he does sign on, Renner will be in good company, as Jamie Foxx was recently cast as Spawn.

Renner may be best known for his role as Hawkeye in the MCU, but he’s demonstrated that he’s a versatile actor in films such as TagWind River, and The Town.

It’s been said that McFarlane wants Spawn to be similar in style to Jaws. If that’s true, and if the role of Twitch is going to be on the same level as Spawn’s role, casting Renner as Twitch would be a stroke of genius. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
