James Gunn wants both DC and Marvel movies to be successful

During the last eight years, comic book movies have become more and more popular. Marvel and DC keep on producing movies based on comic books due to their constant success. Of course, not all movies are good, but most of them are.

Do comic book fans differentiate between DC and Marvel cinematic/televised universes? That can happen sometimes, but it seems that the studios don’t agree with this approach. When DCEU was just starting to release movies, Kevin Feige from Marvel wished them all the best:

Man of Steel looks awesome. It's a great trailer. I can't wait to see that movie. It looks great. And as I've always said, if they are all good, the more the merrier. It's a bad thing for us when one of them is not well received. If we have a good movie, and they have a good movie, it only helps us. So let's all calm down (comicbookmovie).

James Gunn approached this subject, too, and he seems to share Kevin Feige’s opinion on a DC vs Marvel fan “rivalry”.

I just don't find any room in my headspace for thinking my movies are superior or inferior to someone else's. I really just think about how can I make, for instance right now, how can I make Guardians Vol. 2 the greatest spectacle film of all time? That's all I care about, so that's what I concentrate on. I don't really think about Marvel versus DC. And also any time a Marvel movie comes out that isn't as good as I wished it was, or anytime a DC movie comes out that isn't as I wished it was, I'm disappointed, because I love these characters. I grew up reading Marvel and DC comics. I want them all to be good (Variety).

Gunn has also made some Twitter posts to encourage fans of Marvel and DC to be united. After all, it’s about comic books, and there are good and bad movies on both sides.
