Hugh Jackman Talks Wolverine/Deadpool Crossover

If there was ever any doubt, we’re sure now. According to the critics, Logan isn't just the best solo Wolverine flick, it’s also the best X-Men movie to date. And it appears that Hugh Jackman managed to do what he wanted to do, which was to make a true Wolverine flick, filled with intense action and emotion.

Jackman has repeatedly said that this will be his last outing as Logan. However, rumors that he'll don the claws one last (last) time in a Wolverine/Deadpool crossover are popping up. When the New York Times asked whether it’s the end for this character Jackman responded:

When I had the script, I was like, “Yes…And when I was shooting the movie, yes. As I sit here today, yes. God knows how I'll feel in three years, but right now, absolutely.

Logan (Rolling Stone)

The actor elaborated on that during an interview with Fandango, saying that Logan wouldn't have happened if he hadn't known that it would be the last movie in the series. He went on to say that it’s a matter of bad timing:

That’s probably bad timing, because I love Ryan Reynolds and I love Deadpool, but I knew I was out, and I couldn’t have made this movie if I was questioning if I was out. I was a pain in the ass for a lot of people with this movie, because it mattered so much to me. Even when we started writing this, and even when I asked James Mangold to come on board, I said “Dude, I don’t know if I’m gonna make it.” Unless it’s exactly what I want, I prefer to not do it. I couldn’t live with it. So this is it.

So here it is: Logan is indeed Hugh Jackman's last movie as Wolverine. Unless he decides otherwise, of course (yeah, there's just a bit of sarcasm here).
