First Venom Reactions Are Split And Mixed!

The first reactions for Venom have finally surfaced on web, but they are all over the place.

With Sony Pictures setting the lifting of embargo for social media reaction and reviews for Venom close to its release date, we were suspicious that the movie wasn’t going to fare well with the critics. But perhaps, it’s not that bad… or maybe, it is. We cannot be sure even when the social media reaction embargo has already been lifted.

There are critics who hated the October 5 release, and there are critics who loved it. But the majority seems to be of the same mind that it’s a mixed bag. No one seems to have a problem with the action sequences or the CGI. Tom Hardy and the rest of the cast also seem to have done just fine.

However, there seems to be some issues with the script. Apparently, the movie isn’t as gritty and dark as expected, but has no shortage of rib-tickling moments. However, many of these funny moments may actually not be intentional. Here’s a collection of the Twitter reactions for you!

The embargo for full reviews will be lifted on Tuesday night at 7 pm PT, with Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer expected to be unveiled subsequently. Hopefully, those will give us a clearer idea about what to expect from Venom.

The Ruben Fleischer flick is currently on track for a $60 million - $65 million North American debut, according to Deadline. It is looking good enough to command $160 million - $175 million worldwide in its opening weekend. It remains to be seen whether the critics’ reactions have any impact on those box-office numbers.
