Fantastic Four - Toby Kebbell Still Defends Josh Trank

Fantastic Four

While it has been almost a year since Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot was released, the controversy around it hasn't ended. Over the course of the past months, people have either blamed the director exclusively for the poor results Fantastic Four has yielded, or they blamed the studio for interfering with the creative process. It is safe to say that Toby Kebbell (unlike other co-stars) isn't one of the guys blaming Josh Trank.

Toby Kebbell, who is now promoting Warcraft, says in a recent interview that the director cut a much better movie, one that the fans will never get to see. Furthermore, the actor also revealed that the Doom seen in the film wasn't played just by him.

According to the actor, he can be seen as Doom in only four scenes in Fantastic Four - scenes which are also the most memorable for the character (as memorable as scenes can be in such a mess of a movie). Other than that, another actor (Kebbel doesn't give any names) played Doom - which infuriated him, since it added some extra mannerisms to the character. Which was unnecessary, according to him.

Even more, the actor said that most of his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor, even though he worked very hard on them. Kebbell thus says that it was frustrating, since he had to skip the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes press tour in order to shoot those scenes.

At this point, it seems that there is no future for Josh Trank in Hollywood. Which is a shame, since Chronicle was pretty awesome. Furthermore, even if the Fox execs say otherwise, the Fantastic Four franchise died as soon as it was rebooted, and it’s unlikely that a sequel (or even another reboot, coming from Fox) will ever be made.

Fantastic Four - what a waste of talent.

And we'll probably never know who wasted it.
