Doctor Strange 2 "Might" Introduce Clea!

Jon Spaihts says Clea might appear in Doctor Strange 2!

A Doctor Strange sequel might not have been officially confirmed yet, but the movie has bagged enough money (more than $654 million worldwide to date) for us to be certain that it will be announced sooner or later. And the critical reception for the movie has been great, too, which means that Marvel Studios probably wouldn't mind bringing the same creative team back for Doctor Strange 2.

Jon Spaihts, who wrote the fourteenth Marvel Cinematic Universe installment with C. Robert Cargill and director Scott Derrickson, recently revealed to The Playlist that he would "certainly be delighted" to return for the sequel. He added that the studio would "certainly be very receptive".

In separate interview with CBR, Spaihts talked about what we might get in Doctor Strange 2. According to the scribe, we might see Clea, niece of Dormammu and love interest of the Sorcerer Supreme, in the sequel:

She's a tricky character to interpret because her uncle is a kind of fire-headed omnipotent god and she's kind of a hot babe who studies magic. That's a tricky relationship to bring out of a comic book and on to a movie screen. But she's a really compelling character as a foil, a love interest, a colleague of Doctor Strange's, and she always carries with her that width of mystery as to whether she is human, and how human, and what that means for his relationship to her. So we might find a way to introduce her to the story.

When Rachel McAdams joined Doctor Strange, many speculated that she might be portraying Clea in the movie. However, we eventually saw her as Christine Palmer. Clea never appeared in the movie, and wasn’t even mentioned once.

Jon Spaihts too seems interested in introducing Nightmare as the villain in Doctor Strange 2!

In an interview back in October, Scott Derrickson revealed that he would love to introduce Nightmare, the evil ruler of the Dream Dimension, as the big baddie in Doctor Strange 2. Jon Spaihts also seemed eager to make it happen. According to the scribe:

[Nightmare is] one of the big ones, yes, absolutely! There's sort of a zombie apocalypse Shuma-Gorath elder god scenario. There's a kind of unreliable reality Nightmare movie that could be made. There's a few great things, and of course Mordo is out there, as embodied by the extraordinary Chiwetel [Ejiofor]. He can come back and bring a world of hurt at any time.
