Captain America: Civil War – A Love Story!

Joe Russo says Captain America: Civil War is a love story

Today's date will surely remind any true comic book fan that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is just two days from hitting the theaters. And it will also remind them that Captain America: Civil War is releasing in less than a month and half! Even though Civil War is a movie that fundamentally belongs in the superhero movie genre, the Russo Brothers have often described it as "a psychological thriller".

And now they’ve found a new way to refer to the May 6 release! While speaking to Empire Online, Joe Russo labeled Captain America: Civil War as a LOVE STORY! Here's what he said:

What's fascinating about the Cap-Bucky story, as well, is it's a love story. These…two guys…grew up together, and so they have that same emotional connection to each other as brothers would, and even more so, because Bucky was all Steve had growing up.

The co-director added that Chris Evans' character has to answer from his heart when considering whether his closest and oldest buddy is good or bad. And there are other characters in Captain America: Civil War who possess the exact opposite point of view. According to Joe, it becomes “very explosive", and triggers "a lot of conflict".

Bucky Barnes actor Sebastian Stan took a slightly different route in describing Captain America: Civil War’s Cap-Bucky story, explaining:

I think it's easy, and generalizing it, to say that they're lovers, when you're forgetting that one has a lot of guilt because he swore to be the protector of the other, the father figure or older brother, so to speak, and then left him behind. I have no qualms with it but I think people like to see it much more as a love story than it actually is. It's brotherhood to me.

Well, all of us will form our individual opinions on Captain America: Civil War when it finally hits the theaters. And that day isn't far away!
