Batman v Superman: Tracking and Rewriting the Script

The Bat of Gotham

While Batman v Superman is one of the most anticipated (superhero) movies of all time, this does not mean that it will break any records too soon. According to data from Box Office, projections from a couple of weeks ago said that the movie would make $154 million in its debut weekend in the USA, for a total of $380 million in its entire run in the USA (which is, by the way, better than Man of Steel, which was when the DCEU officially started).

But now, the numbers seem to have decreased a tad, since Batman v Superman is now projected to make around $140 million in its debut weekend in the USA. And that is despite the fact that it will open on a holiday weekend, and despite the fact that it has little to no competition at the box office.

We should note, of course, that with roughly the same release date, Furious 7 managed to break records and win a little more than $1.5 billion worldwide. So surprises may happen! But, for the moment, given the magnitude and the scope of Batman v Superman, the projections do not look so good.

And this has prompted many to believe that there is a conspiracy taking place, with a smear campaign directed against the movie (check it out here). Of course, other than some pretty similar Tweets, there is no reason to believe that.

In other news, CBM reports that the Batman v Superman script was not too good in the first place, since rewrites took place throughout the entire shooting of the movie. And this happened mainly for the role of Batman, who is portrayed by Ben Affleck.

According to the website, the actor had to dress up as the Dark Knight, and then find a way to make his lines better. He literally had to fix them, and this took quite a while. Of course, since no particular source is cited, could this be another reason to believe that there is indeed a conspiracy against Batman v Superman?
