Avengers: Infinity War IS the MCU’s Longest Movie!

Avengers: Infinity War is indeed the longest Marvel Cinematic Universe installment so far!

People have been predicting for some time that Avengers: Infinity War will be the longest Marvel Cinematic Universe entry in history, and a number of theater chains recently confirmed that this is true.

A couple of weeks ago, SM Cinema in the Philippines launched their ticket presale for the movie, which is set to hit theaters on April 27. The chain’s listed runtime was 150 minutes (2 hours, 30 minutes). While it would certainly make it the longest MCU installment, their stated time appears to be inaccurate. Fortunately, even when looking at an accurate runtime, Infinity War is still Marvel Studios’ most lengthy movie.

According to some more reliable US-based theater chains (AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas, Cinemark) and ticketing company Fandango, the Russo Brothers flick will actually run 156 minutes. So in terms of length, Infinity War will beat Captain America: Civil War (147 minutes), The Avengers (143 minutes), and Avengers: Age of Ultron (141 minutes), which are the top three longest MCU entries to date.

However, in comparison with superhero movies in general, it's still shorter than both The Dark Knight Rises (165 minutes) and Watchmen (163 minutes). Of course, Infinity War’s runtime won’t even matter as long as the movie rises to our expectations.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth, and existence itself, has never been more uncertain.
