Wonder Woman: Villain Confirmed by Merchandise?

One of the best things about the Wonder Woman marketing campaign is that it still hasn't revealed who the main antagonist is, though some hints have been dropped here and there. While some are hoping to see a Darkseid minion at work, Ares seems to be the villain the fans want.

And why not? He would be a worthy opponent for Wonder Woman. At the same time, having him as the villain would serve to expand the mythology of the main character. We know that Zeus is her father, and he was presumably killed by Ares, so the introduction of this villain would expand her backstory.

Now, we may have confirmation that Ares will indeed be the main antagonist. Comic Book Resources has revealed two pics of Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor toys. Check them out below!

What’s interesting is that the toys come with build-a-figure pieces that are used to build Ares figures.

Sure, as with all movies and toys, this may not mean a thing - after all, merchandising partners may or may not use characters and events from the actual movie. But there have been times when the toys have provided essential information about flicks (this happened with Age of Ultron Lego set).

Hopefully, Warner Bros. won't make the mistake of revealing all of the movie’s secrets in upcoming trailers and clips, as they did with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Wonder Woman will be released on the 2nd of June.
