Wonder Woman: Gal Gadot Addresses Diana's Sexuality

As everybody knows, Wonder Woman will be set, at first, on Themyscira, a paradise island inhabited only by women. Everything changes, however, when Steve Trevor arrives, along with all the problems of the man's world. And, as everybody knows, he may bring more with him than just that - in the comics, he was also Wonder Woman's love interest.

We don't know if this will happen in the movie. However, the Rebirth series has gone a different route as far as Diana's sexuality is concerned. As a woman who has lived her entire (very long) life on an island inhabited only be women, is it a wonder?

Talking about this aspect of the character, actress Gal Gadot said that it wasn't addressed in the movie. However, she also said that it is only natural for this to happen (in the comics, at least), since all of the women on the island wouldn't be devoid of any sexuality.

But Gal Gadot also added that this wouldn't definitely be a trait for Wonder Woman, since she is a heroine who loves all the people, regardless of their gender. And this is what is actually important about her: not the fact that she is a warrior and not the fact that her sexuality is fluid.

It's not something we've explored (in the film). It never came to the table, but when you talk theoretically about all the women on Themyscira and how many years she was there, then what he said makes sense. In this movie she does not experience any bisexual relationships. But it's not about that. She's a woman who loves people for who they are. She can be bisexual. She loves people for their hearts. (via Screen Rant)

Basically, this trait makes her more humane than any other superhero.

Given the timeframe and the plot of the movie, maybe it’s for the better for Patty Jenkins to have left out this aspect of Diana's personality. After all, the most recent DCEU films have been bashed for being too convoluted at times.

But, at the same time, having a paradise island filled with women is, maybe, a statement in itself.

Anyway, we can also expect that a romantic connection will be established between Steve Trevor and Diana. After all, Gal Gadot did say that Wonder Woman won't feature any bisexual experiences of the superheroine.
