Wonder Woman 2 Release Date Moved Up!

Wonder Woman 2 gets a newer, nearer release date!

We have good news for fans of Gal Gadot's Diana PrinceWonder Woman 2 will open in theaters six weeks earlier than originally planned.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel’s new release date is November 1, 2019, rather than December 13, 2019. Warner Bros. had set the previous release date in July 2017, after experiencing the original movie's weeks-long dominance at the summer box office.

The change makes sense because it allows the Amazon Warrior Princess to steer clear of a threat from a galaxy far, far away. A couple of months ago, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that J.J. Abrams would replace Colin Trevorrow as the director of Star Wars: Episode IX. They also pushed back the release date from May 24, 2019 to December 20, 2019.

Releasing Wonder Woman 2 just a week ahead of the monstrous Star Wars installment would be a major risk that the studio really doesn’t have to take. The early-November corridor is doing wonders for Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, which bagged around $212 million domestically in just its first ten days. That may have contributed to the studio’s decision to set a new release date.

The DC Extended Universe installment will still face some competition from Bond 25, which is scheduled to arrive the next week, but it won’t be as detrimental as a clash with Star Wars: Episode IX. Agent 007 ain't no Jedi, folks!
