Man of Steel 2 - Villains We Want to See

After three years and two other DC movies, Warner Bros. has realized that Man of Steel needs a sequel. Most likely arriving in 2019, the second solo Superman flick of the DCEU is considered a top priority. And that is because the studio wants to get the character right to satisfy all audiences. Seeing that many disagree with Zack Snyder's vision for the character, maybe it was about time.

Back when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was announced, Henry Cavill said that a sequel to Man of Steel will arrive very late, because of the complexity of the character. In other words, being so powerful and deeply flawed at the same time, it will be difficult for Warner Bros. to come up with a realistic and more powerful villain for Superman after the arrival of Zod.

So what will Warner Bros. do? What villain or villains will Superman have to face? Will it be a threat we all know? Or will it be some outer space threat? Check it out!

Lex Luthor

I know - many (too many, for that matter) said that Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Lex Luthor was the worst part of Batman v Superman. However, in the ultimate cut, his mannerisms and over the top reactions almost make sense. I can bet that, with a different director and editor, Man of Steel will prove that this Lex Luthor can stand among the greatest big screen villains of all times.

This being said, Lex Luthor will almost certainly appear in the Man of Steel sequel. He is too important a character to be left out. So I believe that, somehow, he will make it out of Arkham Asylum and regain the trust of the people.

Maybe the Justice League will be to blame for that, once again causing destruction. In this case, the crazy guy who released Doomsday again won't seem so crazy after all.

And, to be honest, I actually want to see how Lex looks in his iconic mechanical suit.

Brainiac

There were multiple hints of Brainiac arriving on Earth in Batman v Superman. And the most obvious ones were dropped by Lex Luthor. Who doesn't want to see the Collector of Worlds? Who doesn't want the DCEU to delve into the mythology of Kandor?

With the discovery of other peaceful Kryptonians, Kal-El might actually find in himself what he needs to become the symbol of hope.

Yes, Brainiac may be a bit too big for this Superman. However, since I don't believe that there will be a third Man of Steel, this villain needs to appear on the big screen. So bring him! After all, with all his technology, he must have noticed the same signal found by Zod and, afterwards, by Darkseid.

Metallo

Metallo

Metallo (DC Wikia)

Metallo is the kind of villain who could put to good use some supporting characters in addition to Superman. Thus, if Metallo were the villain, we might actually get to see Lois Lane being a journalist.

Metallo was rumored to be a villain in Batman v Superman, and he was rumored to be portrayed by Scoot McNairy. It wasn't so - even if Lex Luthor eventually used the character played by McNairy in his schemes.

As a villain for this Superman, Metallo works perfectly. He isn't too big (like Brainiac, for example), but at the same time he is iconic. And his backstory (his relationship with Lois from the new 52) would be very interesting to see on the big screen.

Eradicator

Eradicator was one of the characters from the failed Superman Lives script. Seeing how interesting his backstory is, I can totally understand why Kevin Smith wrote him in. He isn't actually a straight up villain, but this is why he is so interesting. Like Zod, he just wants to preserve all Kryptonians. And while the Man of Steel sequel could see him clash with Superman in the beginning, the end might bring them together.

So, basically, he would be adapted to be a better (and far more powerful) Zod. Which would be great, as far as I am concerned, because, in a way, it would wash away the aftertaste of Man of Steel's neck breaking finale.

I know - the DCEU does not need another Kryptonian. But Eradicator is something special. Plus, this would mean that Superman would finally have a Fortress of Solitude in this continuity.

Bizarro

Bizarro (Comic Vine)

This would be strange to see, but it is totally possible. As we saw in Batman v Superman, the technology to create Bizarro exists. So it isn't too hard to assume that someone might use it. It might as well be some general who believes that he can actually do good - you know the general, Sam Lane.

And since Warner Bros is trying to bring funny into the DCEU, what better character could there be than Bizarro? He is, basically, a reverse and dumb Superman. And a Man of Steel sequel with him cannot turn out to be as dark as the DCEU movies released until now.

It would be an awesome fight between Henry Cavill and whoever ends up playing his counter double. And I can bet that the right writer can solve all the problems related to superpowered beings fighting in populated areas.

I wouldn't go as far as giving Superman and Bizarro wall-building vision though"¦

Black Adam

Dwayne the Rock Johnson isn't called the Franchise Viagra for nothing. So Warner Bros. might want to use him more in the DCEU than just in the planned Shazam movie. Furthermore, the actor did say, at one time, that we might see Black Adam earlier than 2019.

And the new 52 version of the character could fall in line with the Superman of the DCEU - the Man of Steel who is feared by many. So what if Black Adam returns in order to save the world from this new threat?

A big screen fight between these two would be awesome, and not just because they are powerful fighters. They will use different tactics - while Black Adam will try to get close to Superman, the latter would do his best to fight from a distance.

Such a fight, between two superpowered beings who basically want to protect the world, would solve another problem, as well. And you know what I'm talking about. And so nobody would have to repeat again and again that the fight takes place in an unpopulated area"¦

Parasite

Parasite (DC Wikia)

While the new 52 origin of Parasite is a bit hard to bring to life in the DCEU, the Man of Steel sequel can still use the Rudy Jones version of the supervillain. And this falls nicely within the known DCEU plans, with Darkseid having an active role in the transformation of the janitor into an energy-draining villain.

Of course, if Parasite will be used in the Man of Steel sequel, there will be some casualties. Furthermore, given the comic book history of the character, I don't see how funny this movie can be.

But maybe it isn't the darkness of the DCEU that has alienated so many fans. Maybe the scripts are to blame. And I do believe that this rather tragic supervillain can be brought to life by a proper writer.

How will this version of Superman deal with him? I do want to find out.

Manchester Black

There is nothing funny about truth and justice - and Manchester Black and his Elite could be brought into the DCEU to demonstrate that. Thus, the end of Batman v Superman revealed that the Man of Steel is now a hero. Metropolis (and the world) are left to the mercy of the villains.

The Elite intervenes and shows the world how Superman should have dealt with all villains - basically, they are the DCEU's Batman taken to the extreme. So, when Superman eventually returns, they want to show the world why their way is the best way.

Obviously, a big part of Batman v Superman was dedicated to answering this question: who decides when superpowers must be used? However, I do believe that the death of Superman has, partially, answered that.

A heroic Superman is what the world needs. And it is also what the DCEU lacks at this moment. The Elite could bring him.

Female Furies

If Steppenwolf is the villain of the Justice League, that means that Darkseid is watching closely. And while he may appear in the second Justice League flick, maybe Warner Bros. should wait a bit more before bringing him in.

Thus, maybe Darkseid should try to deal with each of the superheroes separately. And who is the biggest threat of them all, other than Superman? For that, the ruler of Apokolips should send his best warriors - the Female Furies.

The battle between Faora-Ui and the human soldiers from the first Man of Steel was one of the highlights of that movie. Imagine a battle between Superman and 4 superpowered females, each using a different tactic.

It would be awesome!

Intergang

Intergang (DC Wikia)

Intergang (DC Wikia)

And here is another connection to Darkseid, which could also use Lex Luthor. Governing the underworld of Metropolis, Intergang could pose a threat to Superman, especially if the criminal organization has ties with Apokolips.

In this case, the Man of Steel sequel would also make the best of secondary characters, such as Lois Lane, who would have the chance to prove why she is a Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist. And I am not even mentioning Clark Kent, who isn't much of a journalist in the DCEU"¦

What do you think? What other supervillains do you want to see in the Man of Steel sequel?
