Tom Holland Talks Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer and Villains for Sequel!

Tom Holland defends Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer, reveals his choice of villains for the sequel!

Trailers are supposed to generate anticipation, but the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer released back in March was met with outrage. Many believed that it gave too much away and spoiled the entire movie. Star Tom Holland doesn't believe that's true.

In a recent interview with Brazilian entertainment website CinePOP, the interviewer addressed reaction to the trailer, asking the 20-year-old actor whether there are still many surprises left in Spider-Man: Homecoming. His response:

The trailer's obviously (there because) you have to sell the movie. But believe me, there's a lot hidden under the surface you guys have no idea about just yet. So buckle up, it's gonna be a crazy, crazy ride.

In the July 7, 2017 release, Holland's webslinger confronts at least three supervillains: Michael Keaton's the Vulture, Bokeem Wood's the Shocker and Michael Chernus' the Tinkerer. But for the sequel, which is slated for a July 5, 2019 release, the British actor has some interesting options:

There’s so many good villains. I really like Mysterio, I like Kraven. I really like the Clone Saga. I think it could be really cool if Peter or Spider-Man has to fight people with the same powers as him. Spider-Woman is super cool…I think she’s called Spider-Girl, who is his clone. They kind of like hit it off, and they take their masks off, and they’re like, “What the hell!” They’re like the same person, but she’s just a girl. I think that’s really cool. And I think I could play myself as a girl.

Laura Harrier, who portrays Liz Allan in Spider-Man: Homecoming, joined Holland for the interview. She offered some insight into her character:

Liz is a senior"¦She's two years older than Peter. She's like captain of the academic decathlon team, which Peter is on. She's really academic and driven and ambitious, and kind of that girl in school who is doing a million things and a head of every committee. She and Peter are friends at first, and kind of have a mutual interest and respect for each other. Then, things happen from there.
