Deadpool 2 is expected to kick off its filming in a few months, and 20th Century Fox has been busy looking for the best fits to portray two superheroes that they will introduce in the movie, Cable and Domino. But it seems like the studio now has another significant search to carry out"¦a search for the sequel's director!
Deadline reports that Tim Miller, who made his directorial debut with the original movie, won't be returning to helm Deadpool 2. The director has departed the project due to multiple creative differences. Okay, don't start blaming Fox yet – the studio had nothing to do with it. The creative differences were between Miller and lead actor Ryan Reynolds.
According to the outlet, this all ended "amicably" and hasn't affected relations between the director and the studio. In fact, Fox already has other plans for him - they want him behind the camera for one of their upcoming big projects, an adaptation of David Suarez's novel Influx. The script for that project has already been penned by Mark Bomback and is expected to launch a trilogy of movies.

While Miller had already started developing the Deadpool 2 script, and had every intention to direct it, he actually never signed a formal deal. In most cases of disputes between directors and actors, the actors are the ones who exit. But Reynolds has the greater influence here – like Robert Downey Jr. has on Iron Man movies, Hugh Jackman has on Wolverine movies, or Matt Damon has on Jason Bourne movies.
And it’s worth mentioning that the Canadian actor is an active producer of Deadpool 2, along with Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. Plus, his dedication to the franchise is purely unparalleled. He paid out of his own pocket to have screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Rheese on the set of the February 12, 2016 release. He also made a remarkable contribution to the movie's marketing. So Fox was never going to let him walk away from Deadpool 2.
