Thor: Ragnarok - Planet Sakaar Revealed

We can’t deny that Guardians of the Galaxy had an influence on Thor: Ragnarok, but Taika Waititi took things even farther than James Gunn did when when he created the world we'll explore this November. This is evident in the Ragnarok trailer released last month; the desolate colors of Hela are masterfully contrasted with the lively palette of Sakaar's capital city. The comedy seems to be top-notch, as well. Those who paired Waititi's comedic talents with Chris Hemsworth’s amazing timing knew what they were doing.

Thor: Ragnarok is more than just a new opportunity for the God of Thunder to prove himself in his own solo franchise. It’s also the discovery of new and exciting worlds. For example, if you believed that Knowhere seemed out there in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, check out Sakaar's capital city.

A small-scale model of the planet instantly reminds the viewer that it draws inspiration from the work of Jack Kirby and Walt Simonson. It clearly shows both the tower (where, we assume, the Grandmaster lives) and the Arena (where Hulk and Thor battle).

This isn't the only recent Thor: Ragnarok reveal. Visitors at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia had the opportunity to view several pieces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the Hulkbuster Armor and Captain America's various costumes. Another display revealed where Hulk will sleep on Sakaar. As expected, his bed is made from the skull of a giant beast!

Check it out below:

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on the 3rd of November 2017.
