SUICIDE SQUAD Going Strong At The Box Office, Breaks $326M

Despite mixed reviews from critics, “Suicide Squad” seems to be moving along quite nicely at the box office after its impressive opening weekend. Its global ticket sales have now surpassed $326 million, and audiences are still packing into theatres to experience the David Ayer film.

Many fans have been speaking out in disagreement with the early reviews that panned the movie, and it seems that audiences have been siding against critics in a big way. There were fears that the opening weekend ticket sales would drop off as a result of the harsh reviews, but “Suicide Squad” continues to outpace other big movie openings. It has now beaten the Tuesday records of both “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

DC may finally be catching up to Marvel in terms of audience turnout after the unfortunate reception of “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” earlier this year. Not all fans have been happy with the movie, though. There’s been a lot of criticism of how Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) was portrayed, and rumors persist about tension between Warner Bros. and Ayer over the amount of darkness in the movie.

The star power of Robbie, along with Jared Leto as The Joker and Will Smith as Deadshot, is definitely drawing audiences, and “Suicide Squad” is on track to remain number one at the box office in its second weekend. It seems we have a long way to go before the hype dies down.
